Blog Number Two
I would have to say the same thing as Jenny that my favorite poem out of the poems that we had to read was "The Snow Man" by Wallace Stevens. I personally enjoyed the way he described winter with the pine trees and the crusty snow. This gives you a sense of feel for the environment and actually brings to me some good memories of winter. He also goes on to talk about how winter is a really beautiful thing but at the same time recognizes that winter is not something for everyone and I really like how he acknowledged that. He also describes the subtle quiets of the land of winter and saying that these sounds belong to the land, which I think he does a great job of. I think this because the type of imagery he uses in this poem gives great detail that I can vision a place that I was once at during the winter and remember it's and nature's true beauty. It is funny but I never really saw him being isolated and just describing a state of mind until Jenny mentioned it. I do kind of see it and I think it is a very interesting point and I feel that if I knew more about the author's background or mental state, then I could say that he might feel isolated.
