Three Sections from My Life ?

While reading the prose poem Three Sections from My Life by Lyn Hejinian I attempted to follow it as a narrative however I had a difficult time with this. The poem seems to be made up of multiple scenes from the authors childhood that are collaged together and are divided by streams of consciousness. Although I may not have fully understood the message of this poem I did enjoy reading it and attempting to understand some of the metaphors included in the memories that she describes. I was especially interested in the section which focuses on the silver fox at the zoo who swallowed the pigeon. I will be very interested to discuss the meaning of this in class tomorrow.
In regards to the first writing assignment I like many who have posted enjoyed writing the poem. Although I enjoyed writing it I was not so confident with my finished product. I would read it to myself and like it and then read it over and feel much less enthusiastic about it. I am also worried that it might not make sense to the reader and that I could have included more candy in the poem. I do feel that I gained a lot from this assignment and see how completing tasks such as these can really improve my writing.
